As an artist I found myself captivated by painting beads this year. I have painted Mardi Gras beads before, but I had not fully committed to doing a series of bead paintings until this year. What I've learned about painting beads is that they are extremely versatile as a compositional device. You can lead the eye of the viewer in all sorts of directions in the scene. You can also use them in an abstract way as little decorative pops of color.
