Monteleone Carousel Bar

Since 1949 the Carousel Bar and Lounge in the Hotel Monteleone has been  a favorite hot-spot for celebrities, locals and tourists and me!  As the city's only revolving bar it draws visitors in with it's dazzling circus like carousel and expertly mixed drinks.  Featured in books by Hemingway and Tennessee Williams, I enjoyed going to the Carousel Bar after my wedding as we stayed at the Hotel Monteleone in the French Quarter.  Thankfully the Bar rotates at a rate of one revolution every fifteen minutes so the spinning is ever so gentle in case you were wondering.  With this painting i tried to capture that bright colorful atmosphere and add a little bit of whimsy of this New Orleans Institution.
