Painting New Orleans Blog

I am not one of those painters whose work is primarily about recording the outside world with every nuance of detail and technical mastery. My work has always been about expressing an inner emotional state. Sometimes I envy those perceptual painters and how they don’t seem dependent on such an inconstant thing as emotions, especially since I make my living as an artist. But the truth is that sometimes when I listen to just the right music in just the right way emotions can be like Rocket Fuel for a painting with an energy that even I am surprised by.  "Radiate" perfectly expresses the effervescence that I seek in a painting.
