Hi Everyone,
Some of my most memorable commissions are of wedding paintings. I like the challenge of trying to capture such a magical event for a happy couple, there is a joyfulness to these paintings that makes them uniquely special.
For example, above my fireplace is a painting of Latrobe’s on Royal, a historic building in the French Quarter where my wife and I got married. The building was designed by Benjamin Henry Latrobe, who also designed the United States Capitol and the Porticoes on the White House. After I finished painting the venue for another couple, I made my own version and gave the painting to my wife as a surprise anniversary present. I am looking at it right now.

One of my wife’s oldest friends got married at the Audubon Tea Room in Audubon Park in New Orleans. Last year I painted the venue for the couple, and it turned out really well. I suggested adding a second line of musicians since I had been to their wedding and remembered them parading around the building.

I also got to do a painting of a wedding at the Magic Chef Mansion in Saint Louis which included a New Orleans Second Line. The building is called the Magic Chef Mansion because the founder of the Magic Chef line of small kitchen appliances lived there.

Finally, I think one of my best paintings of 2019 is this scene of a wedding at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie Louisiana. I worked closely with the husband to get the correct placement of the family, and I really love the light and color in this one.
