One of the things that I am trying to convey with my work is a sense of place, how a location feels, how it sounds, and the time of day. New Orleans is filled with neighborhoods that have their own unique atmosphere, and I enjoy finding real locations and giving them my own spin. Sometimes I try to share my excitement around a particular place that I painted and it usually gets lost when I try to describe it because I can't remember street names and I have a horrible sense of direction.
Recently a customer asked me what street a painting was on and I looked it up and sent her a link to a Google Map Street View of the house. She is one of those people that knows every house in New Orleans and recognizes the locations I have painted better than me. So it got me thinking that it might be fun for people to take a virtual tour and you can see the house or tree that inspired a painting with Google Street view. Many of my paintings are places that I return to again and again, and I am curious what people will think when they compare my romantic interpretation to the more ordinary views of Google Maps. Will my paintings or Google Maps seem more real?
Here is an example-

"Porch on the Bayou" 24" x 30" $545
And here is the link to that location on Google Maps-Bayou
If you have a painting that you would like to know the location of please let me know.
