Hi Everyone,

I like imagining people opening a gift on Christmas morning with my artwork inside. (Although some open gifts on Christmas Eve that's not kosher in my book.) It is especially gratifying when the painting has been commissioned to commemorate an important place or event in their lives, or when their own photos have been woven into the work. In a way I get to be a part of someone else's story. If you would like to commission a painting as a gift this year and want it completed by Christmas, please let me know soon. It takes time to plan and execute a painting, and oil paint can take a while to dry. It's also a crazy time of year. A recently commissioned painting that is especially meaningful to me is this large painting of a family at the beach. The mom at the bottom right of the picture was our next door neighbor when I was growing up. Jenny was the same age as my younger sister and they were inseparable--they called themselves the "weird sisters." When Jenny reached out to me for this project, I was so pleased. She had seen my other "cloud paintings" and wanted to integrate the big sky theme into some photos of a recent family vacation. I am happy with how it turned out. It's nice to paint for my sister's best friend.
